Public kindergarten provides a common educational foundation upon which skills/concepts and learning strategies are promoted and enhanced, which will lay the essential foundation for success in first grade. The kindergarten curriculum areas are an integral part of the skills and strategies continuum. All kindergarten curriculum is consistent with our school district's educational philosophy, expectations and goals.
All academic subjects are taught in kindergarten: math, integrated language arts, science and social studies. Art, music, physical education, Spanish and library are included in the program. The classroom is set up with centers, some of which are: math, building, writing, reading, science/social studies, kitchen, art, water/sand/rice table, dramatic play, music, iPads and circle/gathering center.
Kindergarten at Mont Vernon Village School is now offered full time.
